The USS Lexington NCC-14427-D was a 24th century Federation Aerie Class starship operated by Starfleet. This was the fifth Federation ship known to bear the name Lexington.

USS Osprey was commissioned in 2348 at the Shipyards]].
USS Osprey was decommissioned in 2369 following the introduction of the Nova Class starships, and sent to Starfleet Surplus Depot 24.62.-2500 in the Sugil System.
Service at Outpost Phoenix[]
Following the near-destruction and eventual decommissioning of the USS Lexington (NCC-14427-C), Captain Kaveh Arzie received orders to retrieve USS Osprey from Starfleet Surplus Depot 24.62.-2500 in the Sugil System. These orders also included a name and registry change. Upon return to the Tahnna'Whanna System, it would remain in service as a surveyor and diplomatic vessel assigned to Outpost Phoenix.
Multiple ship's systems had to be replaced, and led by Lt. Cmdr. Masterson and Lt. Simpson, the ship was ready for a test flight with two weeks of arrival at Tahnna'Whanna IV.
That test flight occurred on Stardate 201701.08 with what was supposed to be a quick trip to the Binyah System. Unbeknownst to the crew of Lexington, the Binyah System was home to the aggressive Baal Vaar race. Lexington barely made it out of the Binyah System at Warp 3.
